Price Performance Used European Cars: Audi, BMW and More

Price Performance Used European Cars: Audi, BMW and More

The price of the automotive industry keeps rising, with luxury cars becoming almost unaffordable. However, the good news for vehicle lovers is that buying a brand-new vehicle isn’t always necessary to enjoy a luxurious drive. Many used European cars offer luxury on the roads while remaining affordable.

When we look at used European luxury vehicles, we consider whether the cost performance of the vehicle makes it a worthwhile buy. These vehicles offer elements of luxury while remaining high-performance vehicles. You’ll find most of them have strong engines, low fuel efficiency and are reliable on the road.

Some of the best used European cars are the same brands we look to for quality luxury vehicles. Brands like BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz create durable cars that last well beyond their years, making them a perfect option for those interested in used luxury vehicles.

The Volkswagen Phaeton is one of the best options, as its W12 engine is powerful, and the design features strong lines. As it was discontinued, you’ll generally find it available for cheaper than most options. The BMW E-series, E46 or E90 are always good options. The E-series is one of the most popular sedans and offers a sporty yet opulent look that’s still popular today.

The Audi A8 or A6 are dependable options where you know you’ll receive the highest materials. It features a solid build and a clean, opulent interior. However, if you’re looking for something slightly bigger, the Porsche Cayenne 955/957 SUV is the way to go. It offers maximum space, comfortable drives and even a bit of sports pedigree.

Worst Models

There are always some bad eggs mixed in-between the good ones, and we look at which models to avoid purchasing second-hand. These models offer worse performance, lower-quality materials, or equipment problems. The first on our list to avoid is the 2014 Maserati Ghibli, as it offers an overall lower performance compared to BMW or Audi models in the same year. It’s not a very reliable model and isn’t as fast or capable as other cars in the same market.

While Range Rover is one of the best luxury SUV brands, a model to avoid is the 2016 Range Rover. It was recalled three times and had a reputation for offering more problems the older it gets, making it a poor choice when looking at used cars. Another car that gained a reputation for being unreliable is the 2007 Jaguar S-Type, one of the first luxury sedans brought out after Ford bought Jaguar. As such, all the kinks in the system haven’t been worked out yet.
